The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the Government’s independent regulator of all health and social care services in England. Their role is to register health and social care providers and to inspect whether or not standards are being met.

They then rate each service as either Inadequate, Requires Improvement, Good or Outstanding based on five core criteria, which are;

  • Safe
  • Effective
  • Caring
  • Responsive
  • Well-lead

Primrose Lodge was inspected under this new rating structure in April 2019 and they have been rated as GOOD overall.

According to the CQC, Primrose Lodge achieved this rating because “clients were positive about the service, they felt that staff were responsive to their needs and treated them with compassion and respect. Clients felt that the service had benefited their lives and that they had received the right support at the right time.” During their inspection, the CQC representatives discovered that “the facilities promote recovery, comfort, dignity and confidentiality”.

“Staff treated clients with compassion and kindness. They respected clients’ privacy and dignity. They understood the individual needs of clients and supported clients to understand and manage their care, treatment or condition.” (Care Quality Commission)
